Mayor Kyle F. Stack Visits Trenton Towers CO-OP

Trenton, MI – February 21, 2012 – Trenton Towers Co-op will be honored tomorrow, 2/22/2012, with a visit from Mayor Stack during Trenton Towers general monthly meeting at 11:00a.m. The Mayor recognizes Trenton Towers as an inspiring example of a Cooperative, during what has gained worldwide support as “The International Year of Cooperatives.”

The United Nations General Assembly Resolution 64/136 proclaims the year 2012 as the International Year of Cooperatives (IYC). The Resolution encourages all member States and all relevant stakeholders to take advantage of the IYC to promote cooperatives, to raise public awareness of the contribution of cooperatives to social and economic development and promote the formation and growth of cooperatives.

Trenton Towers Co-op fits under the umbrella of CSI Support & Development. CSI Support & Development is a nonprofit resident/member controlled organization that utilizes a cooperative management system and engages its resident membership in decision making at every level of its operations. For 46 years as a mission-driven non-profit, we exist solely to provide the highest quality, affordable housing communities possible for seniors.

CSI, originally Cooperative Services, Inc., has 55 buildings in 4 states, with 22 in Michigan. It has a unique management system where the residents participate in the day-to-day operations of the building, giving them a greater sense of ownership.

CSI was recently the recipient of the 2010 National Communities of Quality Award for its outstanding performance in developing and managing the highest quality affordable housing to seniors (62+) and special needs residents.
